The chief executive of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce resigned Wednesday.

Chamber seeks more influence on city

Jerry Bustamante held the position since May 2008.

“It is with a heavy heart that I choose to resign as President/CEO of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce," Bustamante said in statement. "With my family still in Tucson and the time away from home having taken its toll, I’ve decided that it’s best that I return to Tucson to spend more time with my wife and four children. I wish to thank the Board of Directors for allowing me the opportunity to serve the chamber and the wonderful membership and chamber staff for their support. It has been a privilege serving Chandler’s business community.”

The chamber's Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, currently chaired by Cathy Beard of BobCat Studios, will oversee operations until a permanent chief executive is hired.

“Jerry is leaving behind a talented staff that will continue to work diligently to fulfill the chamber’s mission which is to support business and our community by providing vital programs and services that attract and retain business while embracing diversity,” Beard said in a statement.
