Volleyball
Host Mountain View had little problem in game one of the their volleyball match Tuesday against Red Mountain. From there they lost by two in game two and had a close game three, but closed it out strong in game four as the Toros beat the Mountain Lions 25-11, 25-27, 25-19, 25-12. Hannah Fitzgerald had 10 kills to lead the Toros, Talia Ta’ase added nine kills while Mariana Salazar and Mackenzie Skousen each added eight kills. ...
Suzanne Morris had 11 kills as host Westwood won a hard fought match against Marana Mountain View 25-23, 19-25, 27-25, 20-25, 15-5. Stephanie Lopez had 26 digs for the Warriors, Krissy Brinkerhoff had 16 digs and Mallory Richardson finished with 26 assists. ...
Tniqua Grandberry had 17 digs as visiting Mesa beat Phoenix North 25-21, 28-30, 28-17, 28-22. Emma Kast added seven kills and 16 assists for the Jackrabbits.
Boys golf
Austin Quick of Chaparral finished in first place as the Firebirds (150) had three of the top five finishers in their win over Desert Mountain (162) and Highland (162). Quick shot a four under par 36. There was a three way tie for second between Ian Hagener of Desert Mountain, Anthony Maccioli of Highland and Casey Kaplan of Chaparral who all shot a 38. Alex Lloyd of Chaparral finished with a 39.
