NOGALES - Agents with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration said Thursday they had discovered another tunnel linking Nogales with its sister city in Mexico that was being used to smuggle drugs.
The latest discovery was made Tuesday when agents found a tunnel entrance in an apartment in Nogales extending 30 yards to a drainage ditch in Mexico. The apartment was searched after U.S. Border Patrol agents watched a Jeep leave the area and stopped it after a short chase ending with a crash.
Agents found 540 pounds of marijuana in the Jeep and arrested two men on drug smuggling charges.
Thursday's announcement come two weeks after two other drug tunnels were discovered in the city.
