A Goodyear man was arrested this morning during a traffic stop in Scottsdale after police say he pointed a handgun at another motorist.
It was the city’s second road rage incident involving a handgun in less than two weeks.
Kelly Richmond, 51, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and failure to obey an officer about 6 a.m.
A 33-year-old Scottsdale man told police that Richmond pointed a handgun at him while driving northbound on the Loop 101 near Thomas Road.
Officers later caught up with Richmond’s truck near Miller and McDonald roads, where they took Richmond into custody and recovered a handgun from the cab of the truck. Police did not immediately say what prompted Richmond to allegedly point the gun at the other motorist.
On Sept. 7, officers arrested Gregory Williams, 23, of Scottsdale, and Charles Daniel, 36, of Phoenix, in connection to a road rage incident near Camelback Road and 77th Street after Williams pointed a handgun at the driver of another vehicle after Williams’ car nearly struck the man’s vehicle, police said.
