From family fun to massive block parties, East Valley partygoers have a wide variety of places they can go and celebrate the new year.
The Mayor’s New Year’s Eve Party in Gilbert combines the feel of a block party and a high school dance, but without the spiked punch.
The event, expected to draw 3,000 to 4,000 people, kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Gilbert High School, 1101 E. Elliot Road. Admission is $2 per person or $5 per family.
Rain won’t wash away the glitz and glamour of Scottsdale’s Ultimate Block Party. Coordinators of the event said they are ready to party under tarps if rain comes.
The event is expected to draw 10,000 to 15,000 people, but may lose some of those numbers if rain does fall. Festivities start at 5 p.m. between Third and Fifth avenues and Scottsdale Road and Marshall Way. Admission is $25 at the gate. Partygoers must be at least 21.
RICH DIGS AND DENIM
Partygoers sporting formal attire, or jeans and a T-shirt, can mingle at Chandler’s Diamonds and Denim Gala. The event starts at 7 p.m. at San Marcos Resort and Conference Center in downtown Chandler. For tickets, call (480) 899-4884.
TAKE A DIP
Named one of the top places in the country to ring in the new year, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Block Party features national entertainment, pep rallies, fireworks, carnival rides, food and drinks.
Shuttles will run from 4 p.m. today to 2 a.m. Thursday from Tempe Diablo Stadium at 48th Street and Alameda Drive, and from Pyle Adult Recreational Center at Southern Avenue and Rural Road. Cost is $5 per carload. Parking at Arizona State University lots is $10.
