A Gilbert Town Council candidate forum scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at Mesquite High School has been canceled.
The forum was to be the only debate for Gilbert’s May 15 general election race between incumbent Les Presmyk and challenger Dwayne Farnsworth.
Mike Weaver, president of the Gilbert Education Association that had planned the event, said Farnsworth notified the group he is unable to attend or reschedule the forum.
One seat remains open on the seven-member Town Council. Early ballots will be accepted at Gilbert’s Civic Center, at 50 E. Civic Center Drive until May 11, and can also be turned in on election day at polling places.
