Tonight’s thunderstorm lit up the Valley sky with lots of lightning, but it brought little rain.
According to Maricopa County rain gauges, parts of Scottsdale, Cave Creek and Chandler had received about a quarter-inch of rain by 9 p.m., though the storm was still active.
The day’s record-breaking heat quickly subsided as winds and moisture moved in.
The National Weather Service in Phoenix expects more rain and cooler temperatures through Labor Day.
