Three people are dead after two commercial semi-tractor trailers collided Saturday evening on Interstate 40 at Exit 51 near Kingman, according to a prepared statement from Arizona Department of Public Safety Sgt. William Duff.

A fire, explosion or possibly both occurred about 6:30 p.m.

Eastbound I-40 traffic is restricted to one lane near Exit 51, and the westbound I-40 is closed at mile post 50 for at least eight hours, according to Department of Public Safety Officer Andy Dobbins. There is a detour route through Kingman so traffic can get by.

No further details are available at this time, Duff said.
