A Mesa man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after firing a stolen handgun and being in possession of illegal substances, according to police reports.
Jesse Wozniak, 28, was riding as a rear passenger when he allegedly fired a handgun in the near vicinity of a marked patrol vehicle on the 6100 block of East Main. Wozniak denied firing the handgun at the officer but did not specify where or why he had fired the weapon.
Wozniak, who goes by the alias "Joker," appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was transported from the site for further evaluation. A search of the vehicle produced a .38 caliber revolver, a usable quantity of methamphetmine and drug paraphernalia.
The defendant was incoherent at the time of booking and unable to complete an interview. After questioning the other occupants of the vehicle police determined the drugs belonged to Wozniak.
Wozniak faces charges of possession of a dangerous drug (a class 4 felony), discharge of a fire arm within city limits, and possession of a stolen firearm.
