A Chandler police detective's wife was bruised and sore two days after an alleged assault at their Gilbert home, according to a police report.
Gilbert police arrested Brett Lockwood, 34, Aug. 11 on a misdemeanor assault charge after his wife, Jessica Lockwood, told investigators he squeezed her arm, bearhugged her and pushed her onto a couch on Aug. 9.
Lockwood told officers he argued with his wife but never got physical except for grabbing her arm.
Jessica Lockwood had a bruise the size of a finger tip on her forearm and two other light bruises on the back of her arm and back.
A person close to the family told Chandler police about the alleged assault, and Chandler police notified Gilbert police.
Lockwood is on paid administrative leave.
Gilbert police went to the couple's home in March when an anonymous caller reported there was a loud argument and the sound of breaking glass.
Police interviewed the couplebut weren't able to find any proof of an assault because the caller's report had been delayed. The police report did not say how long of a delay there was in the caller reporting the incident.
Jessica Lockwood said Aug. 11 that she had lied to investigators in March, and that he had gotten physical with her then.
Brett Lockwood had a pre-trial conference in Gilbert Municipal Court Friday, but no other court date has been set.
