The statewide Independence Day Holiday DUI Task Force has arrested 224 suspected drunken drivers since the crackdown began a week ago.
Of those arrested, 34 had been arrested for DUI before, 17 were minors and 67 were extreme DUIs, officials said. An extreme DUI means a driver’s blood alcohol content is 0.15 or above. The legal limit is 0.08.
The task force, which consists of 38 agencies and 243 officers and deputies, will continue through Saturday.
