Soaking still affects Valley

The rain clouds are gone but authorities are now dealing with the aftermath of a storm that soaked the Valley.

“We’re not expecting anymore significant rain,” said meteorologist Ken Waters of the National Weather Service. “We’re really watching a lot of the rivers.”

Flashflood warnings have been issued for the Cave Creek and Tonto Creek areas where about 75 residents of a mobile-home park have been evacuated.

Flood advisories have been issued for the Indian Bend Wash and Paradise Valley areas.

The weekend rainfall will require Salt River Project to divert water from the Granite Reef Diversion Dam, utility officials said.

By early morning today, almost three inches of rain had fallen in the Fountain Hills area.
