The weekend just wouldn’t be the weekend lately without a freeway closure in east Mesa, and the Arizona Department of Transportation does not intend to disappoint.
Eastbound U.S. 60 will be closed between Sossaman Road and the Loop 202 interchange from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for rubberized asphalt paving.
Eastbound traffic will be forced to exit at Sossaman and use Baseline Road or Southern Avenue before returning to U.S. 60 via Ellsworth Road.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid traffic backups by detouring from U.S. 60 to southbound Loop 101’s Price Freeway, and then to eastbound Loop 202’s Santan Freeway, which connects to U.S. 60 east of the work zone.
Eastbound U.S. 60 also will be narrowed to two lanes between Ellsworth and Crismon roads 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. today for rubberized asphalt paving. The on-ramp at Ellsworth Road and offramp at Crismon Road also will be closed.
Other weekend restrictions include:
•Southbound Interstate 10 will be narrowed to two lanes between Broadway Road and the U.S. 60 interchange 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for pavement repair.
•Southbound I-10 on-ramps at 40th Street and Broadway will be closed, along with the offramp at 48th Street/Broadway Road and the southbound state Route 143 ramp to southbound I-10.
• The southbound I-10 ramp to eastbound U.S. 60 will be narrowed to one lane 9 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday for pavement repair.
• The southbound Route 143 ramp to southbound I-10, the southbound I-10 on-ramp at Broadway and the exit ramp at Baseline Road will be closed 9 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday.
