A woman remained hospitalized in serious condition Monday after she was shot in the neck at a Scottsdale apartment Friday night.
Scottsdale resident James Eldredge, 26, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after police say he shot Kendra Beiser, 19, of Glendale in Eldredge’s apartment in the 7700 block of East Osborn Road.
Police responded to the shooting at the Scottsdale Greens Apartments at 11 p.m. Friday. Eldredge had four people in his apartment when he decided to show his guests his Glock pistol, which he said he believed was unloaded, Scottsdale police said.
Alcohol was involved in the incident, police said.
Friday’s incident was the second shooting at a Scottsdale home in two weeks.
Scottsdale police arrested Marcelino Quintero, 21, on suspicion of second-degree murder last week in the Feb. 26 shooting death of his cousin, Michael Garcia, also 21.
Quintero was originally arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after telling police his Ruger 9 mm pistol accidentally fired as he was cleaning the weapon in the bedroom of an apartment in the 7300 block of East Belleview Street.
But police decided to recommend the more serious charge because they said Quintero’s statements were inconsistent with physical evidence at the scene.
