Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., is making a second trip to the East Valley in five months to raise money for the Arizona Democratic Party.

Clinton will be the top speaker at the party’s Arizona Heritage Dinner on May 27 at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass resort hotel in the Gila River Indian Community. She will be joined by Gov. Janet Napolitano, state Attorney General Terry Goddard and Reps. Ed Pastor and Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz.

Previously known as the Jefferson Jackson Dinner, the Arizona Heritage Dinner is the Democrats’ largest fund-raiser of the year. Tickets are being sold from $200 to $5,000, and party officials expect a sellout with more than 1,000 attendees.

Clinton’s appearance fulfills a promise she made to state party chairman Jim Pederson, in exchange for a Jan. 5 fundraiser Pederson hosted for her at his Phoenix home.

Earlier that day, Clinton signed copies of her latest book for an enthusiastic crowd at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe.

For more information about the dinner and to buy tickets, go to www.azdem.org or call (602) 298-4200.
