A Tempe motorcycle officer was injured Wednesday afternoon in a traffic accident while responding to a burglary call, according to authorities.
The motorcycle officer, whose name was not released, was responding to a burglary call around 4:30 p.m. when she was struck by a car, said Brandon Banks, Tempe police spokesman.
The officer was riding near Eighth Street and Dorsey Lane when she attempted to pass a vehicle ahead of her, that vehicle moved into the officer’s lane at the same time and struck her, authorities said.
The officer was taken to a hospital with a fractured arm, Banks said.
Police found no evidence of excessive speed or impairment on the part of the driver, and no citations were given.
