Phoenix police are investigating an animal-cruelty case in which a 6-month-old Chihuahua was found cut in half.

Police Detective Stacie Derge said Sunday that the dog's owner came home Saturday afternoon to find his dog, Taco, had been cut in two and was dead.

Derge did not have further details to release.

Anyone with information is asked to call (602) 262-6151 or Silent Witness at (480) 948-6377.
