Maricopa County Animal Care and Control announced that it has hit a crisis stage, as have its rescue partners. Care centers are filled to capacity with dogs and cats of all ages and breeds.

The agency asked Wednesday that people think twice about bringing their pets to the shelter.

It receives up to 200 dogs and cats a day during the summer months. Chances of each being adopted is about 50 percent.

The agency also suggests pet owners get their animals spayed or neutered to help the overpopulation problem.
