Graham Gravely was captured by authorities in Mexico on Aug. 2 after a two-week manhunt, and was charged by the Maricopa County Attorney’s office on Aug. 12, according to a release. Among the felony charges Gravely faces are sexual assault, kidnapping and burglary.

*** NOTE: An earlier version of this story contained incorrect information. The investigation lasted two weeks, not six weeks, as previously reported.

Police believe that Gravely entered the home of his victim July 20 through a kitchen window. The elderly female homeowner was robbed and later sexually assaulted in her home, police say. Investigators were able to use DNA evidence to identify Gravely as the suspect.

Tempe police detectives investigated the case and made the arrest with assistance from the Mesa Police Department, FBI, U.S. Marshals, Silent Witness, DPS, Mexican authorities and other local authorities.
