PHOENIX - Police rescued two hikers on Monday who had been forced to spend the night outdoors after getting trapped on a mountain peak in South Mountain Park.
Two mountain rescue officers guided the hikers to an area where a waiting police helicopter took them off the mountain.
The men were located Sunday night after a third man who had been with them made it down and sought help.
But authorities decided to wait until daybreak to attempt the rescue because of the rugged, steep terrain.
