A 25-year-old man is in jail and a 26-year-old man dead after a crash Sunday at a Scottsdale intersection.

Scottsdale police say Justin Thrasher was speeding in a 2004 Nissan Maxima at 3:30 a.m. on southbound Hayden Road when he swerved to miss another car and then struck a Suzuki motorcycle ridden by Bradley Kuhn.

Police say Kuhn was killed instantly as the motorcycle burst into flames.

The Maxima went out of control and through the intersection at Thomas Road and came to a rest in front of the San Tropez apartments, where the driver and two passengers ran from the wreckage.

Police nabbed one of the passengers almost immediately and found Thrasher and the other passenger near 7800 E. Thomas Road.

Thrasher was booked on suspicion of felony hit and run, manslaughter and reckless endangerment. Thrasher is being held on $50,000 bond in the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail. He is scheduled to appear for his arraignment in Maricopa County Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. on Dec.1.

The two passengers, who police didn’t name, were booked on suspicion of fleeing the scene of a fatal traffic collision.
