Gilbert school board considers rental rates

The Gilbert Unified School District governing board will hear a plan Tuesday night about proposed rental rates for the 2009-2010 school year.

The district rents out facilities to a variety of organizations. Most of the proposed rates for renting school stadiums and practice fields are double the current rental rates. Other rates vary, with energy surcharges in additional to rental fees.

“We did find that our utility costs were more than what we were charging,” assistant superintendent Clyde Dangerfield said. “We checked the rates against other districts, too, and we were quite a bit below. We are trying to come in line with what the market really is as well as cover our expenses."

The meeting is 7 p.m. at the Educational Complex Building, 140 S. Gilbert Road.
