There are three major sporting venues in this town: Wells Fargo Arena, Jobing.com Arena, and University of Phoenix Stadium.

Playing high school basketball in the Cardinals’ spaceship would offer no atmosphere.

Scratch that.

Playing next door at Jobing.com is workable – it’s what our high school governing body has ponied up to arrange – but isn’t centrally located to anything, and, apparently, championship games at 7 p.m. on a weekday were the best available.

Sold.

This leaves Wells Fargo Arena in the dust, despite its vacant state in early March.

The ASU women’s basketball team finished its home schedule Feb. 10.

The ASU men ends its home schedule Feb. 25.

Obviously, the brain wizards couldn’t figure this out. Guess there are higher priorities than attracting large crowds and convenience while the East Valley trudges 30 miles across town during Tuesday and Wednesday nights’ rush hour.
