A Tempe man turned himself in to Chandler police Monday at the urging of a relative who saw a news report that he was wanted in a kidnapping.
Police were looking for William Vega, 37, after the arrests Sunday of Christopher Reyes, 21 of Mesa, and Virginia Quezada, 33 of Tempe, who are accused of kidnapping a man so they could rob him of a cashier’s check.
The victim, a 26-year-old Mesa man, managed to escape on Saturday, just before he was to be taken to a bank to cash the check. Earlier in the day, the man was struck on his head with a frying pan, tied up in a Chandler residence and robbed of his car keys and wallet.
According to police, the man had recently become friends with Reyes.
