PHOENIX - Phoenix planned to reopen six of its municipal pools Friday afternoon.
Additional pools will be reopened as staff completes cleaning them and the chlorine levels drop back down to safe levels for swimming.
The city closed all 29 city pools Monday and hyperchlorinated them after the discovery of an intestinal parasite in one pool.
City officials say 58 people possibly were sickened by the parasite, although only two cases of cryptosporidiosis have been confirmed -- both linked to the same west Phoenix pool.
The parasite causes severe diarrhea and is transmitted by contact with feces tainted with the parasite.
