A Gilbert officer discovered stolen stereo equipment, power tools and a shotgun when he stopped a suspected stolen car on Wednesday.

The three young men inside the vehicle, 22-year-old Jesse Reyes, 22-year-old Arturo Martinez and a 17-year-old, ran from the car as it was stopped near Val Vista Drive and Baseline Road at 6 p.m., police said.

Other officers found the three hiding in neighborhoods on opposite sides of Val Vista Drive.

Reyes and Martinez were booked on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, trespassing, weapons misconduct and warrants, according to police.

The 17-year-old is expected to be booked separately.
