A man riding a motorcycle died as a result of a collision with a tractor-trailer Saturday.

Emory P. Harvey, 37, of Phoenix, was knocked off his motorcycle near the northbound Washington Street off-ramp on State Route 143 around 7:50 p.m., said Harold Sanders, a spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

It is unclear which vehicle caused the accident, but witnesses said the motorcycle was reportedly speeding, and weaving in and out of traffic prior to the collision, said Sanders.

Harvey was taken to a Valley hospital, and died around 11 p.m., DPS said.

The truck was not at the scene, and it is unclear whether the driver was aware that the collision had occurred, said Sanders.

DPS is requesting assistance to identify the driver. The vehicle is described as an 18-wheeler with a tractor, and possibly a box trailer, with potential paint transfer from the motorcycle at the back section of the trailer.

Anyone with information is requested to contact DPS at (602) 223-2212.
