A vehicle traveling through a Gilbert intersection struck an ambulance responding to an emergency call Tuesday, police said.

Trisha Hauserman, 30, of Gilbert failed to yield to the ambulance as it traveled east on Germann Road through the intersection at Higley Road, according to Gilbert police spokesman Mark Marino.

The ambulance stopped at the intersection before it entered the roadway at 5:30 p.m. and several other cars had already yielded for it to pass, Marino said.

Hauserman was traveling north on Higley when she struck the ambulance, Marino said.

The driver of the ambulance, David Watts, was not injured.
