The Cardinals agreed to a one-year contract Tuesday with quarterback Rohan Davey, his agent said, as Arizona tries to cope with the groin injury to starter Kurt Warner.
“He just wants to come in and play some football,” agent Joel Segal said. Davey was en route to Arizona Tuesday afternoon, Segal said.
Davey, who was cut by New England before the season, has a strong arm, which coach Dennis Green will like. He will try to find his way into a quarterback mix that for now has Josh McCown as the starter and John Navarre as No.2.
His signing does not speak well for Warner’s injury, however. Warner was unsure of how badly he was hurt Monday, but he did say he was “optimistic” he would be back sooner rather than later.
