Scottsdale police said Thursday said they are investigating allegations that two patrol officers were involved in a single-vehicle crash on April 14 while drag racing on Pima Road.

The officers, Matt Leal and Eric Teeter, were racing in their personal vehicles while off-duty. The department’s traffic division is investigating the incident for reckless driving, according to police.

Police received a call from a resident who saw two cars speeding on Pima Road near Thompson Peak Parkway. When officers arrived, they discovered one of the cars hit the curb at Union Hills Drive, police said. The other car was not immediately found. However, it was determined that it was driven by a Scottsdale officer.

There were no injuries.

No citations have been issued and no arrests were made, police said, Both officers are on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
