Nearly five hours after a power outage in Gilbert caused several traffic signal malfunctions Monday, four roadways were once again illuminated and safe for drivers, police said.
The power outage occurred at Gilbert Road, Guadalupe Road, Burk Street and Neely Street when a transformer went out around 4 p.m. It was repaired around 8:30 p.m., according to authorities.
Gilbert police had advised motorists to avoid the entire area between Lindsey Road and Cooper Road; however, no safety issues or accidents were reported after the power outage was repaired.
Although the cause of the outage is still unknown, Gilbert police said APS was responsible for the line that caused the power failure.
