This isn’t complicated. The winner is the region champion. The loser still makes the 4A-I playoffs.
Winning the division title may be more important to McClintock than the Firebirds. If McClintock loses tonight, it probably won’t have a first-round home game in the 16-team playoffs. Those are reserved for the five region champions and the three at-large teams with the top power-points rankings. Chaparral probably could absorb another loss and still get a home game.
The Firebirds are better at the skill positions and have more depth. But if this game stays low scoring, McClintock will be OK.
