Mesa Community College graduate Nicole Turner was crowned Miss Arizona 2007 on Saturday night in Gilbert and will represent the state in the Miss America pageant this January.

Turner, a Barry Goldwater High School graduate from Phoenix, will spend the next year promoting a service platform of safe driving habits among motorists.

She studied dental hygiene at MCC and the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. Her career ambition is to obtain a bachelor’s degree, work in the field of dental hygiene and continue to instruct dance.

For her talent she performed a lyrical jazz dance.

Jennifer Jean Heller, a Dobson High School graduate from Mesa, finished as second runner up, and Erin Nurss of Sierra Vista was first runner up.

Kimberly Heather Hoff of Scottsdale and Krystle Delgado of Mesa finished in the top 10. Delgado also won a special academic achievement award.

Hoff, a graduate of Horizon High School in the Paradise Valley Unified School District, performed with a bandage around her right knee after aggravating an old injury on Wednesday. Despite the injury, she performed a lyrical dance for her talent.

The Miss America pageant will be in Las Vegas.
