The daughter of Gilbert’s police chief also faces a civil lawsuit following a collision police say she caused in January while driving drunk. She is currently facing DUI and aggravated assault charges in the incident.

Police said Brandi Leigh Dorn, 25, of Queen Creek was arrested on Jan. 31 after she lost control of her Chevrolet Camaro on Gilbert Road near U.S. 60 and collided with a Nissan Sentra.

The Nissan’s driver, Jane Steller, filed a complaint in Maricopa County Superior Court on Sept. 26, claiming Dorn was negligent in her actions. Steller told the court she spent 29 days in the hospital in critical condition following the collision. She is asking that Dorn pay her medical expenses and court costs as well as general and punitive damages.

Dorn is the daughter of Gilbert police Chief Tim Dorn. Since 2002, Dorn has been arrested three other times for DUI.
