A well-traveled Tempe street has been reopened to traffic following two incidents earlier Friday that forced its closure.
McClintock Road between Rio Salado Parkway and Apache Boulevard was closed for more than six hours due to a power outage and a leaking gas main. The barricades came down around 4 p.m., Tempe police spokesman Brandon Banks said.
Traffic lights were out at the intersection of McClintock Drive and Rio Salado Parkway, where a construction worker hit an electrical line. The gas line was ruptured a mile south at McClintock and Don Carlos.
The incidents were unrelated another gas leak Thursday afternoon along Mesa’s Main Street. Light-rail workers ruptured a line about 1:35 p.m. near 1745 W. Main St.
Mesa police detective Chris Arvayo said the incident forced the evacuation of a floor and tile shop to the northeast.
