Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, the daughter of former president John F. Kennedy, will speak Wednesday in support of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama during a political rally in Phoenix.

The event, which is free, begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1826 W. McDowell Road.

Obama is expected to attend the rally but Sean Smith, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, did not know when the Illinois senator would arrive.

Schlossberg announced her endorsement of Obama last weekend. On Monday, her uncle Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., also threw his support behind Obama’s candidacy.

In addition, Obama picked up a number of endorsements from Arizona Democrats today, including the support of a current U.S. Congressman who had been backing former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., said Tuesday in a press release that Obama’s “electability” convinced him to switch his support to Obama.

The campaign also released a list of more that 100 Democrats from across the state who are supporting Obama, including two influential former state lawmakers, Art Hamilton and Alfredo Gutierrez.

His appearance in Phoenix comes less than a week before Arizona holds its presidential preference election on Tuesday.
