Dave Allison was named as the new superintendent of the Gilbert Unified School District at Tuesday night’s school board meeting.
Allison will replace Brad Barrett, who announced in November he was leaving the district after seven years as superintendent.
Gilbert superintendent to head non-profit
“It’s an honor to be chosen as superintendent of one of the most highly regarded school districts in Arizona,” said Allison, after the board approved his appointment to the post effective July 1.
Allison is the district’s associate superintendent of administrative services and has been with the district since 1993. He has a doctorate in education leadership from Arizona State University and a masters in curriculum and instruction from the University of Calgary.
Allison previously served as the assistant superintendent of educational services, and the assistant superintendent of secondary education and classified personnel.
Allison was one of four finalists who were all employees of the district.
