05/02 - Five tapped for appeals court vacancy

The Commission on Appellate Court Appointments has recommended five candidates for a vacancy on the Arizona Court of Appeals to Gov. Janet Napolitano, who will appoint the judge.

The candidates are Louis A. Araneta, 51, Democrat of Tempe and a Maricopa County Superior Court judge; Diane M. Johnsen, 49, Democrat of Scottsdale and a partner in the Osborn Maledon law firm; David R. Cole, 51, independent of Peoria and a Maricopa County Superior Court judge; Donn G. Kessler, 53, Democrat of Phoenix and an attorney with the Jones, Skelton & Hochuli law firm; and Eileen S. Willett, 42, Republican of Phoenix and a Maricopa County Superior Court judge.
