An 18-month-old boy is in serious condition at Phoenix Children’s Medical Center after he was flown by helicopter from Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn hospital about two hours after he was pulled out of a swimming pool at a Scottsdale home this morning.

The boy, whose name has not been released, was discovered in the pool about 7 a.m. this morning at a home in the area of Camelback Road and 68th Street, according to the Scottsdale Fire Department. He did not have a heartbeat or pulse when he was found, but he now has a heartbeat and blood pressure, according to Tiffani Nichols, spokeswoman for the Scottsdale Fire Department.

Nichols said it isn’t known how long the boy was in the water. The pool had a fence around it, but there were gaps around it and the gate, Nichols said.

“It wasn’t fully secured,” Nichols said.
