MAYER - Sheriff's officials in Yavapai County say a Mayer High School student who claimed to have a bomb in his backpack and allegedly had a hit list is under arrest on felony charges.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Susan Quayle says the 15-year-old boy threatened to "detonate the school" and actually showed the device to some of his classmates.
The school was locked down and sheriff's officials arrested the boy, then called the DPS bomb squad. They destroyed the device, which turned out to be a fake.
The boy was booked into the county's juvenile hall on two felony charges after Thursday's incident.
