One Basha High School student was transported to a local hospital with neck pain and about 36 others suffered “minor bumps and bruises” when their school bus collided with a truck Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Most of the students appeared to be OK, said Terry Locke, spokesman for the Chandler Unified School District.

The crash occurred at 2:28 p.m. at the intersection of Chandler Heights and Lindsay Roads. The driver of the truck had minor injuries.

Chandler Fire Department spokesman Dan Couch urged parents not to come to the scene. School district policy prevents police from releasing students to their parents at the scene of an accident, Couch said.

Additional information was not readily available.
