Tempe police are asking motorists to avoid McClintock Drive from Rio Salado Parkway to Apache Boulevard as repair crews work on a ruptured gas line and severed electrical line.

Traffic lights will be out for an estimated eight hours at the intersection of McClintock Drive and Rio Salado Parkway, where a construction worker hit an electrical line.

The gas line was ruptured a mile south of there at McClintock and Don Carlos.

Brandon Banks, Tempe police spokesman, said there is no estimate available for how long the repair will take.
