Officials have locked down Chandler’s Galveston Elementary School Monday, while they try to persuade a barricaded man to leave his home.

The incident began with a domestic fight about 9:30 a.m. in the 400 Block of East San Tan Street, near Galveston Street and Arizona Avenue, police said. Then, a man with a gun barricaded himself inside the home with his teenage son. Police said the man has outstanding warrants for his arrest.

The incident is ongoing and dozens of police and fire vehicles are surrounding the neighborhood.

Chandler’s Special Assignment Unit threw flash bangs into the home, and the man’s son came out, but authorities are still trying to persuade the armed man to leave. A robot is making entry into the home.

Neighbors from eight evacuated homes stood in a nearby park around noon waiting to return to their houses.
