Scottsdale’s Chaparral High School was placed on lockdown for about 25 minutes this morning after a teacher reported seeing a man walk through the school cafeteria with a gun strapped to his side. But the lockdown was lifted after the man was discovered to be an armored car employee.

The teacher reported seeing the man with the gun about 9:30 a.m. to a school resource officer. The school, at 6935 E. Gold Dust Ave., was searched, according to Scottsdale police.

However, it was discovered the armored car employee was making a cash pickup from the campus bookstore, and the lockdown was lifted at 9:55 a.m., police said.
