A dust storm rolled through the Valley on Thursday afternoon, while Department of Public Safety officials warned that visibility was seriously impaired on many roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, a dust storm warning was in effect until 7 p.m. for Maricopa County and northwest and central Pinal County.

Zero visibility was reported at several locations along westbound Interstate 10 near state Route 85, according to the weather service. Visibility of less than a quarter-mile could be expected on the roads.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety advises drivers caught in dust storms to pull off highways at the nearest exit or to pull over to the side of the road and turn off lights to avoid being hit by motorists trying to follow other drivers along the road.
