Arizona State University today announced Lisa Love as the school's new athletic director.
Love, an associate athletic director at Southern California, replaces Gene Smith, who resigned to accept the same position at Ohio State (he departed earlier this month), leaving Christine Wilkinson as the interim AD.
Love has been USC's associate athletic director since 2002 and in athletic administration for 14 years. A former volleyball player and coach, she has supervised four women'ssports — swimming, basketball, tennis and volleyball — and men's swimming at USC.
Earlier in the day Wyoming athletic director Gary Barta withdrew his name from consideration after interviewing for the job Thursday.
