PHOENIX - Gov. Janet Napolitano on Friday left the Middle East and arrived in Germany on the final leg of a trip that already took her to Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan.

At the hospital in Landstuhl, Germany, Napolitano was to visit Arizona National Guard troops and other service members who were wounded in combat.

Napolitano made the trip with the governors of Oklahoma and Minnesota at the invitation of Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The governors met with U.S. troops, Iraqi government officials, Afghanistan's president and the U.S. military commander in Iraq.

"This has been a remarkable experience," Napolitano said in a statement read by her office. "I have always been proud of Arizona troops. Having seen it first-hand, I am even more grateful for the work they do and the sacrifice they are making for us."

Napolitano will return to Phoenix Sunday.
