A 3-year-old boy was listed in critical condition with head injuries at Maricopa County Hospital after being struck by a Dodge pickup truck driven by a Phoenix man in south Scottsdale Sunday evening.

The boy had stepped out into the road in the 6700 block of East Cheery Lynn Road about 6 p.m. when the truck, driven by Toribio Jesse Luna, struck the boy, according to Scottsdale police.

Luna was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving on a suspended license, according to police.

The boy’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening as of Monday, police said.
