A man who is a proclaimed member of the “East Side Chandler” street gang, has been indicted on a murder charge related to the 2008 death of a 16-year-old Chandler boy.
Rocky Hernandez, 19, was indicted by a Maricopa County Grand Jury on a first-degree murder charge on Jan. 28 in connection to the shooting death of Richard Gonzalez, according to the Chandler Police Department.
Hernandez is accused of shooting Gonzalez at least once in the head in the 600 block of East Flint Street on March 22, 2008, according to Sgt. Joe Favazzo, a spokesman for the Chandler Police Department.
Hernandez, who had multiple prior arrests, was on probation and a prohibited possessor of a firearm at the time of the shooting, according to Chandler police.
Hernandez currently is serving a two-and-a-half year prison sentence in an Arizona Department of Corrections facility for a burglary conviction in an unrelated crime, according to DOC records.
