Police arrested a man Tuesday around 5 a.m. on suspicion of punching his dog about 12 times and making a death threat to a woman standing in her apartment doorway.

Police said Cedric Michael Hurth, 31, of Tempe allegedly beat his dog 12 times with a closed fist. He is then suspected of confronting a woman who was standing in the doorway of her apartment, police said.

Hurth approached the woman, walked 3 feet into her apartment, raised his hand and stated, “I’ll kill you,” according to a police report.

Hurth then returned to his apartment, where he was contacted by police.

Police arrested Hurth and he was booked on suspicion of one count of aggravated assault, one count of disorderly conduct, and one count of resisting arrest.
